Typography & Pop-up books
December 5, 2008
This is a great little book. For those typography nerds or little kids (is there much of a difference really?) this would make a fun gift. ABC3D takes the 26 letters of the alphabet and creates an entertaining way to look at them.
Stackable Dresser
December 5, 2008
I came across this today and thought it was a neat idea. Say you start out with just a few things and don’t need a lot of drawer space, but as you get more and more and need more room – just add to it! This would be great, especially if you really like the look of this dresser and didn’t want to sacrifice getting rid of it for a newer, larger one to replace it. The company that produces it is in Japan, so I can’t get a lot of info. from their website. I wonder if they come unfinished for you to paint/stain the way you want?

Cape May, New Jersey findings
November 26, 2008
I had forgotten about these. While driving today in Riverton, UT I acknowledged their street signs as I have done in the past. They at least made some sort of effort to break away from the standard, boring type that is usually used and did something different. I’ll have to take a photo and post it sometime. But the reason I bring this up is because it reminded me of the street signs in Cape May, New Jersey. I was there about a year and a half ago and remember being pleasantly suprised at their signs. Some of the coolest I’ve seen.
Here are a couple more local findings…
Swedish Dance Bands on the 70’s
November 25, 2008
I came across this the other day and was amazed at not only the coordinating outfits and hair, but their type treatments on their albums! They’re awesome. Don’t think this is all…you can see ’em all here.
Calendars
November 25, 2008
I’m always amazed at how different people can approach a calendar and add a little something to it and have it be new again. Here are a few calendars I’ve come across recently that were fun…

I found this beauty at the Deseret Industries store in American Fork for like $.25. Now, we’ve just got to take some really funny portraits of ourselves.
Found Typography
October 25, 2008
I was going through some old photos of our summer in Minneapolis and found some interesting photos I forgot I had taken…
This next photo is particularly funny to me. This a pole on the corner next to the Target HQ. I walked passed it every day. But the reason I found it funny is because I used to collect Jim Abbott baseball cards when I was younger. I’m not even quite sure why I chose Jim Abbott to collect. It was probably because he didn’t have a right hand and I thought it was cool that he was a pitcher. It was as if the sticker was there just to say, ‘hey, remember when you used to collect Jim Abbotts?’
YESCO – Salt Lake City division office
October 18, 2008
I’ve passed this building many times and always appreciated the signeage out front, it being a sign company and all. Not just their sign, but the building itself. Although I’ve never been inside, there is something about busineses that maintain the originality of their building. Especially architecture and design elements from the mid-century. Yesco is a pretty impressive company with quite the portfolio and an interesting history. The look of this building gives a glimpse of how they have been one of the leaders in sign making/design since their beginning.
More fireworks
October 6, 2008
I came across some more fireworks from an old stash I remembered I had. Nothing too spectacular, but you can definately count on the emission of flame and sparks with these!
